Healthcare assistants and GP assistants support practice nurses and doctors with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement, ECGs, spirometry (lung tests) and ABPMs (24 hour blood pressure monitoring). They may act as a chaperone or assistant when a patient or doctor requests one.
